If i was to have a romanitic night with a girl whom i have a casual relationship with,?

ok, if i was to take her out for dinner, walk by the lake/river, and a horse drawn carrage ride to the hotel where the following will be ready: a bubble bath in front of a fire, rose pedals layed through out the satin bedding (unless cotton is better) and lightly layed around the room, champagne being chilled, 12 boques of 12 dozen roses, unknown number of candles placed around the room, and 99 balloons (pink (33)/red (33)/white (33) balloons) flooting around the hotel room, would this be romantic? is there anything i should add or subtract? please help.

If you have a casual relationship with her now, what if she does not want to take the next step into the romantic area? Then what would you do? Would you be hurt? I think you should take her out a few times without all the "frills" to see if you two are romantically ready for such elaborant details.

But yes, all that sounds great for TWO people who love each other but not for a casual relationship that's just "maybe" getting into the romantic side.
Reply:that would b very romanitic...
Reply:honey, thats TOO MUCH!.

If a guy I was having casual sex with did all those intimate romantic things, I would run away, unless I was in love with him. I would advise you to not overwhelm her...maybe one or two gestures would be enough...like take her out to dinner and see where the conversation goes and where her mind is.

While most women like romantic stuff, some of us just want to have casual sex with no strings attached...make sure you know where she is emotionally.
Reply:It's overkill...you'll frighten her, methinks. What about asking her what her favourite food or restaurant is? If you let her have input, perhaps she'll be more flattered. I think the best thing would be one or two small gestures at a time and see if she's being receptive...body language is even more important that what she says.
Reply:LMAO. I think it would be great. Maybe minus the whole hotel thing. Dinner and lake walks are awesome ... I've never been on a carriage ride except with my parents, but it'd be fun.

Maybe one single rose. Pink. Or just a bottle of not-too-expensive wine. That'll do. Otherwise, it's just way too much money to be dropping.

You like her more than just "casual"-like, it seems.
Reply:having a casual relationship with the girl, all that would scare the **** out of her.
Reply:I would be shocked and appalled at the waste of money (and so would many other onlookers). She may (rightly) feel that you were going too far, too fast; in which case you will be making her run away from you.

In addition, if you are so fabulously wealthy then give the money you save by not doing this to the needy; a woman would find this gesture much more impressive.

You could start an America-wide "Adopt-a-Bridge" charity; now THERE'S a worthwhile cause!

Low-rise hiking pants for women?

I am looking for low-rise hiking pants that are preferably not cotton, as this is inconvenient when traveling to a hot place with 100% humidity. I'm sick of all the women's pants that have a waist that could double as a shelf bra... Anyone out there have any suggestions?? I'm also a size 2 so I have tried men's pants and they are all way to big. Thanks!!

Low-rise hiking pants for women?
Sorry I can't give you a direct answer, but my GF (about your size) just buys the ones she otherwise likes and rolls the waist band over once or twice - like rolling up the cuffs but at the other end. With a shirt/blouse hanging over it, no one knows. I do the same thing with some of my pants. Works like a charm.

The various nylon ones work well in humidity, and you can get them in hiking styles or more dressy (like where you have to wear pants to go eat dinner).

If you do end up needing something good for travel/casual/dress that is good in high heat/humidity, I'd recommend TravelSmith as a source - http://www.travelsmith.com/. A bit pricey but good stuff.

If you're looking for something cheap by mail order, try Campmor - http://www.campmor.com. Selections may be limited in size and color, but it's worth a look; they seem to specialize in out-of-season and overstocks. Of course, the women's stuff is more expensive than the men's.

Semi annual VS?

I always loved VS panties, but never knew how cute and comfy the boxies were. I just got two pairs with pink scribble and the other bright pink. They are nice and short and smooth. Also, the cotton v-strings and low rise thongs are as usual amazing. The lace up thong is very sexy and also is comfy in purple with pink dots. I was wondring if there are any other panties which you would recommend. I am a male. But, this is not a joke but serious. I like VS thongs, v-strings, and other panties. They are sexier than mens underwear and more comfy. I appreciate suggestions.

I know that Penn State, Ohio State, and Oklahoma have won all five major ones (Rose, Orange, Sugar, Cotton, Fiesta) and I believe you can add Alabama and Notre Dame to the list of teams that have won the four you mentioned (I know Michigan and Nebraska have not won all four, and neither has Southern California).

Girls..it's my partners b'day soon. suggestions plz?

ok, i would like serious suggestions as to what YOU would like on your birthday in the way of clothing. now we are talking 100 quid max here cos i know she dont like me to spend any more than that as we dont have much cash. so ladies, suggestions plz. it can be 1 item or many items (up to the £100). plz give colours (aqua, pink, rose, lilac etc), materials (silk, satin, cotton, etc) and item(s) (coat, corset, stockings, dress etc)

Girls..it's my partners b'day soon. suggestions plz?
does she have a mp3 yet? an orange one would look nice but it's safer to go with white or black
Reply:arrange for her to have a free consultation with a debanhams chlothes stylist and let her buy what she wants . id hate it if my hubby bought me clothes cos its not about size its about fit
Reply:I vote for some real nylon sheer stockings with either a satin corset, or a matching set of bra, garter (suspender)belt, and pantie or thong.

Colors you have mentioned are OK if she likes them, but black is far more exotic.
Reply:I would say a nice handbag is always a good idea. Gray or White big ones are big this spring and summer and you won't have the problem of getting the size wrong. Also, it's something she will get more use out of (and can show her mum when she askes what you got her) rather than the sexy undewear.

I'm not sure what clothes and jewellery she likes but you can get quite nice things in in silver from Tiffany's for under £100 which would make her feel a bit special.
Reply:If you're intimate with each other, a nice corset (not a see through one or anything), and some stockings is a nice present. I would certainly be happy with it ^_^ You can get nice corsets and stockings sets in play-nice styles at Anne Summers or anywhere like that. I would probably take her shopping though and ask her what she wants. Taking her for a meal would be a nicer, more appreciated gesture!

If you HAVE to get her clothing, then I would get her something special to wear on the evening. A nice dress perhaps, would do nicely, or a nice top and skirt. Most "going out" clothes are found in high street shops like New Look etc, at affordable prices. A coat would be a silly buy because it's getting towards summer! And I wouldn't know what colour, because I don't know what colour she likes or what would suit her! I would definitely try something silky, or soft to the touch though. I would definitely prefer it!

Try something that shows you've thought about her. Take notice of what she wears now, and what colours etc are in her wardrobe. If you can assimilate it, but not copy it, then you're on to a winner. Clothing doesn't have to be expensive, and I would most certainly get almost a full wardrobe with £100!!

Make sure you get her the right size though. And if in doubt about what to buy her, ask a shop assistant! They will always know what to do ^_^

And I'm loving your name... hentaihomo... it's a shame I study Japanese and know what that means!

Good luck, in love and light, Tasha x
Reply:How about some really pretty undies from la senza (nice set in pastel colour) If it was me, i'd be really happy if you spent about £50 on the underwear (silk would be really nice) and the rest of some really nice perfume (if you know what ones she likes) If she isnt into pricey perfumes then some luxury toiletries ( jo malone, philosophy, origins, clarins are all good brands) I think the message you'd be giving her would be a really good one personally. Good luck!
Reply:da best u can do is eitha take her awt 2 a very xquisit place 4 dinna or buy anythin u no desire most.
Reply:i would take her shopping so she can pick her own clothes. that way you dont have the hassle of buying her clothes and getting the wrong sizes.

Do you agree with this proposal for the bcs?

have the 5 big bowls fiesta rose orange sugar and a rienstated cotton. be the site for the nat championship after a new playoff tournament. for example call it the orange bowl rose etc

Do you agree with this proposal for the bcs?
A Playoff system will never work because of the Holidays and Academic Schedules.

The NCAA will not come up with a 12-16 team playoff system because those games cannot be played in a 3 week window like Basketball, Lacrosse or anything else. A 8 team playoff system would probably work only if a selection committee picked the truly 8 best teams in the country independent of conference, strength of schedule, etc.
Reply:no
Reply:I dont really understand what your saying, but I had a BCS proposal a while ago. It would have 32 teams in it, and they would play in 4 divisions. When the divisons are down to 2 teams a piece, thats when the Rose, Fiesta, Orange and Sugar Bowl are played, and the winners of those games goes on to the Final Four, which would be in the city thats hosting the National Championship game. The Final Four would be played in the Championship game city.

This way, the BCS could keep all thier Big Bowls, keep the big bowl system operating like it does today, and they could satisfy the masses with March Madness like tournament (only it would be called December Madness).
Reply:While any placement would still be left in the hands of the voters, from there,( and lets assume a top 8 mini-playoff just for the sake of argument) one of those top 8 teams would have to beat 3 other top 8 teams in 3 consecutive weeks to be national champion. Personally, I think only 5-8 teams can legitimately be national championship contenders each year anyways, and whoever emerges from an 8 team playoff would have earned the championship, I think. Hard to debate against a team that beat 3 top 8 teams in 3 consecutive weeks in a playoff...Besides, the real argument that voters would have would be to determine that 8th spot...chances are good that most of the playoff positions would be really obvious. You could even make it 6 BCS conference champs plus 2 at larges or something...even then, you gotta beat the best in order to claim to be the best.

I also wonder about the logic of complaining about holidays...there are already bowl games played during Christmas week, when there are NO classes, and most colleges don't follow a straight 2 semester year anyway. A lot of those football players don't have any classes in January. Playing 3 games on 3 Saturdays is hardly taking away class time any more than a 65 team basketball tournament in March does, especially considering the basketball teams play during the week, and not just on Saturdays...Its a bogus excuse to claim that it would be detrimental to their studies.
Reply:no i don't
Reply:You are suggesting a Top Eight. How do those eight get there? It's back to the polls again. There's no difference.
Reply:HUH?
Reply:i have no clue what you are asking but i'm going to go with the play off system. the NCAA will never go for it with football. they make a lot of money of the bowl games (of which there are too many). The BCS is a very powerful organization.

Do you think college football should have a bowl tournament like the nfl ?

the rose bowl winner vs the cotton bowl winner for example !!!

Do you think college football should have a bowl tournament like the nfl ?
I would only agree with a playoff if the higher ranked team gets home field advantage.
Reply:I think there should be a 32 team playoff where the games take place at the bowl stadiums. So instead of New Orleans bowl always getting Sun Belt vs CUSA they can maybe have a SEC vs PAC 10 game. They keep Bowl games and we determine real champ. Report It

Reply:Hell yes, of course they should. The only people that think they shouldn't are people who make money off the BCS, or those who make money off the people who make money off the BCS.
Reply:Yes but it needs to be over sever weeks and the higher ranked team should have home field advantage. No matter where they play.
Reply:there should be some type of playoff. just like the ncaa does in basketball.
Reply:No the system is fine.
Reply:Right now the most probable transition to a playoff is the plus one format.. It is talked about most frequently as the replacement for the current BCS system. The top 4 teams in the BCS standings will play in two of the BCS bowl, which will be rotated every year.. The winners would play in the National Championship game. However, this would be an improvement, but the BCS rankings would be used and the teams that didnt make it would be complaining.
Reply:i would do absolutely anything to make people stop asking this question
Reply:Yes there should be a playoff system for college. The reason there is not is because there is big money to be made with the system they have now. People go crazy for college games so the NCAA is meeting demand. They know people will pay whatever in order to attend a game even if the school is truly NOT a top team.

And by not having a playoff system like the NFL, teams really dont know whos best.
Reply:i think they should do an 8 team playoff
Reply:No I completely disagree. I say there should be a 16-team playoff consisting of the eleven conferences (yes including the Sun Belt champs) and five at-large with the games being held at the home stadium of the highest seed ,except for the NCG of course (that would be at a neutral venue), just like the other divisions do.
Reply:NO!!!!!

leave it the way it is
Reply:Of corse! Then you can actually crown the best! Even if u barely squeek into the playoff you have a chance to win.
Reply:they've been talking about it
Reply:seriosly anything will be better then the bcs
Reply:yes, there will always have doubts about #1 until they do.
Reply:YES... anything is better than the joke of a system we have now...

Ok can you guys help me and tell me what this stuff is/means?

raw milk

rose water and glycerine

Soak cotton wool in mint juice

1 teaspoon ground cloves with 2 tablespoons fullers earth

natural clay absorbing face packs

any answers to what these are would be very helpful! thankyou!

Ok can you guys help me and tell me what this stuff is/means?
Raw milk is milk that has not been pasteurized or homogenized before consumption.

Rosewater is made from rose petals (to be non-technical).

Glycerine is a colorless, odorless, viscous (which means thick) liquid (jelly like) and is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations. It is a sugar alcohol and fittingly is sweet-tasting and of low toxicity.

Cotton wool consists of silky fibers taken from cotton plants in their raw state.

Mint juice ... well, it's juice from Mint plant.

Ground cloves you can get at the grocery store.

Fullers Earth Natural Clay Absorbing Face Packs - these are made from Fuller's earth, an ancient dry cleaning substance.
Reply:a bunch of random ingredients... idk!!
Reply:Sounds like it is a kind of a MASK-MAKING RECIPIE...
Reply:sounds like an extremely nasty recipe 2 me. where did u get this?
Reply:they sounds like organic or old remedies

natural clay absorbing face packs help suck the oil out of your skin to clear it and prevent pimples
Reply:sounds almost like a facial thing. rose water is what it sounds like: rose petals boiled in water and then taken out. the water is "rose water". glycerin is in soap, and, when bought by itself, can be used to help heal very dry or irratated skin. it really helps. clay would be to reduce oil, i believe. hope that helps a bit
Reply:Raw milk is unpasteurized milk straight from the cow.

Rose water and glycerin is water scented with attar of rose and glycerin (aka glycerol, a by-product of soap making) that is used as a moisturizer.

mint juice is what you get when you crush mint plants and filter the solids out.

Ground cloves in obvious, fullers earth is a type of clay that was used to process wool fabrics to make them soft.

This last one is interesting because there is not such thing as and artificial clay. All clays are absorbent to some extent, think kitty litter which is ground bentonite clay.

Why do people always hate on the big 10?

Ohio st. ,Michigan, Penn st., Michigan st., Iowa,Northwestern ,Minnesota ,Notre Dame and Pitt consistently send players to the NFL. Most of their players usually go in the top 3 rounds.Ohio st., Michigan , Penn st. ,Notre Dame Northwestern, Michigan st.,Pitt, and Iowa are usually ranked . Ohio st. Penn st. and Michigan in recent years have consistently been in the top 15. Ohio st. and

Michigan have also been consistently in the title hunt and have 2 and played in 3 within the last 10 years. If the rules don't force you to play a conference title game why are you doing it . The schedule should be set anyway with12 games and then a top 16 team playoff . You utilize the other bowls have the second round at 4 of the BCS bowls and have the title game . You can use the current system by moving the title game between the Rose ,orange, fiesta, sugar ,and cotton bowls every year.

Why do people always hate on the big 10?
because they are jealous that the big ten is the best conference in the NCAA i dont care what anyone says
Reply:People hate on the big ten because most of the times that the Big 10 plays a team with a spread offense they look like a bunch of 5th graders trying to do trigonometry. Your right that there are a lot of good coaches in the big ten that can develop players for the pros but being a great player doesn't mean you have a good team. When big ten teams get to the title games they generally get creamed. Look at OSU last year. OSU this year will have a very tough time being in LSU's home state and major crowd advantage.
Reply:People hate the Big 10 because they can't count. Eleven teams people.

PS: You do know that Notre Dame and Pitt are not in the Big Eleven right? So why are you discussing them?
Reply:Because the Big Ten is tradition.

They can't stand the fact that the Big Ten is consistently a great conference and the fact that the conference is much richer in tradition than their conference.

It all boils down to jealousy.
Reply:im a big 10 fan

notre dame is not big ten
Reply:big 10 fans need to be honest...this was a down year. michigan and penn state both underachieved. wisconisin had injuries up the wazoo. and minnesota/northwester took the year off. illinois was a bright spot (biggest turn around in Div-1) they will probably be 2-4 in bowl games...

and why are you including pitt and notre dame in the conversation????
Reply:ok first off.. as sum1 else stated.. notre dame and pitt aren't in the big 10.. nd has an independent schedule and pitt is in the big east.. secondly, u can't use a 16 team playoff system cuz then u have four loss teams having a chance at the national title and the chance of the number one team winning four games in a row becomes increasingly more difficult (similar to march madness).. and in response ppl dont hate on the big 10 in general just in specific years (like every1 does with every conference) such as this year they r cuz they have 3-4 legit teams in comparison to the sec, big 12 (best conference this year), etc.. I dont think many can argue the big 10 doesnt have a very rich tradition-- michigan, ohio state, wisconsin, etc..
Reply:Is this even a question or did you simply want to put your two cents worth in about your teams?
Reply:It's pretty simple really. People hate the Big Ten because their team isn't in it. That's it. People on here that say the SEC is better are just louder than Big Ten fans, or have more free time.

If you want to have an intelligent conversation about sports, don't look for it on the internet. People have no respect for others, and would rather spout out crap than look up stats to make a reasonable argument. And I have a feeling the SEC fans that actually do the research to attempt to make an argument find out that they're wrong and disappear.
Reply:Ron zook
Reply:Most years it's just rivalry. Big 10 has the history of dominance and tradition, while the SEC is relatively new to the party with broad school success, and frankly has surpassed the Big 10 as far as depth of tough teams. Over the last 10 years the SEC puts teams in the title game about every other year and has 4 different champs, while the Big Ten outside of Ohio State really hasn't brought that kind of supreme performance to the table over that period. Michgan really hasn't been a true title contender this decade, and Penn State has dropped off a cliff.

SEC fans are as zealous if not more than Big 10 fans, and that creates rivalries and friction, regardless of what reality may be. SEC fans want their recent track record to demonstrate bragging rights, while Big 10 fans want their history to support them as the best conference.

This year is a bit different. It goes beyond rivalries. The fact is that the Big 10 was flat out bad this year. Michigan was awful. Wisconsin was overrated. Ohio State therefore had a cakewalk into the title game (not all their fault), and many feel they don't deserve to be there. Getting blown out last year by a Florida team that struggled greatly in the SEC didn't help matters.

That issue is compounded by the Big 10's refusal to play a conference title game, regardless of what the rules say. IF you want credit for your achievements, you must achieve the same goals as your competition and be a true conference champion.

I don't think anyone would argue that the Big 10 produces their share of NFL players. They obviously do.

There is just a legitimate question as to whether they continue to be an elite conference from top to bottom given the recent history of the conference, particularly compared to the SEC.

These things go in cycles, and right now the SEC is just deeper. That may change, but some question if the style of football prevalent in the Big 10 is enough to draw the supreme speed athletes that SEC teams have -- not just at skill positions but at spots like TE and linebacker.

Last year's OSU debacle really fueled the fire, as it certainly appeared that the Big 10s best couldn't play with a UF team that was not all that dominant in the SEC.

IF LSU does the same, things will only get worse.

As for facts, the Big 10 may want to hide: Since 1996, the SEC has won titles with UF (twice) LSU, and UT, not to mention Auburn's undefeated 2004 season.

In that same timeframe, the Big 10 has one shared title by Michigan in 1997 and one Ohio State title.

Those are the facts.

Go back 10 years prior, no Big 10 titles (PSU not in the Big 10 then), one SEC one. Ten years before that, 3 SEC tiltes ZERO big 10 ones. Again all facts in the last 30 years.
Reply:b/c the Big Ten rocks and they're jealous.
Reply:Well #1 mistake - PITT IS A BIG EAST SCHOOL!! And NOTRE DAME IS TECHNICALLY A BIG EAST SCHOOL UNDER AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACT!! geez...know your facts before asking a question. Sorry, it had to be said...

Now to answer your question - People don't always "Hate on the big 10." They have been "hating" on them the past year or two because the conference, in general is going through a rough patch. Yes, the Big 10 goes to a lot of bowls every year, but half of that is because they are contracted and the other half is because the bowls are still going back on History instead of what is in the present.

History - The Big 10 was one of the most dominant football conferences in the country. Winning national titles and bowl games left and right.

Now - The Big 10 lost a lot of talent (graduating, going to the pros, TRANSFERRING, etc.). They lost a lot of their bowls last year and LOOK like they are going to lose a lot of their bowl games this year.

Understand, this isn't because they are necessarily "bad." But it's because they are rebuilding. It's ok. It happens to all conferences. The problem for Big 10 fans is that you all were so used to winning all the time that now a lot of you don't know how to be good losers (meaning behaved, etc.). Don't worry, I see the Big 10 coming back...but it might not happen next year...but the following year. No worries...

Oh and as far as recruits to the NFL - you would be surprised how many players have come out from every conference in the past couple years.

I hope this helped. OH, and what you are 100% right on is the 16 game playoff. There needs to be a playoff system, and if, as the one guy above said, the "best" teams can't handle 4 loss teams because they have to play four games to get to the title game...then maybe they weren't the "best". Sorry, that argument was bad at best.
Reply:I guess because people here on YA are not from the Midwest and so they do not understand the importance Big Ten football has in the Midwest.
Reply:This is easy. They play a garbage out of conference schedule then lose ala Mich. vs Appl. State. They have a bunch of terrible teams that make the few good teams look great. Most of all most so called experts have their nose up the conferences azz.
Reply:because it is fun to watch the crybaby reaction of the big 10 fans.

*_*
Reply:Didn't you forget App. St. ?????? Oh wait their 2A, but didn't they still beat.............nevermind. Your whole conference should be 2A.
Reply:As an IU grad student, it bugs me that there are eleven schools in the Big10.

I think they also hate because there is a big-10 bias, since alot of journalists went to Northwestern and to a lesser extent the other schools.

Sheer size... Some of the largest student populations and biggest stadiums in the country.
Reply:because we are tired of the east coast sportswriters that think the suna dnmoon rose in the Big Ten and around Notre Dame. Now they are adding in the Big East and ACC to there mix and all are over rated. ie OSU losing to Florida last year. An average Illinois team with a below average QB making the highly touted OSU linebackers look like high school players. and still OSU is in the title game. These guys couldn't beat Hawaii. Another reason, most of us could care less about the OSU-Michigan game, yet regional coverage from ABC and ESPN was interrupted here in the west so we could see that game. Two of my teams were playing but I couldn't see them. So, I turned off the TV and went shopping with my wife, ugh. That's why we hate the Big Ten, all of you East Coaster want to tell the rest of us who what when where and why, but we don't care and we are tired of watching and listening to your crap, especially your crying when you lose.

Whats the big problem with a playoff system in Division 1A football?

It just makes more sense:

Take the top 8 or 16 teams in the BCS and put them in a regular playoff system! Sure people would be upset if their team was on the outside, but if that team was in theyd play the 1 or 2 seed, and your excluding the 9th or 17th team, not the third (who has a legit shot of winning)

For those who say it would interfere with academics: They arent in school in December, but your ok with teams playing on Tues Thurs and Fri when they actually have school?

Every other sport has a tournament why shouldnt Division 1A football?

You can take the big bowl games (Cotton Outback Capital One through Rose Orange etc) and make them the venues. Start the playoffs like the first week of bowl games.

If it is a 16 team then start on the 20th, play that weekend. then the next weekend etc. it would take an extra week true, but an 8 team would finish nicely on the first.

Whats the big problem with a playoff system in Division 1A football?
1 word - Money
Reply:It is not very complicated. The college presidents are against it because it would lengthen the season by a month or more. The season already lasts from mid August to early December. A playoff as you suggest would lengthen that too almost six months. Another issue is the bowl games, they produce a great deal of revenue for the colleges and they have been good to the NCAA for a long time. A playoff might nearly destroy the bowls as the emphasis would switch to just the few bowls. TV rights would dwindle and that is huge. The Big Ten loves the Rose Bowl. It gives fans a chance to get out of the snow and cold and go to CA for a couple of weeks. And it brings in huge revenue and publicity. I do not think the system will change just because TV people keep yelping and newspaper reporters want it. The people with the power do not want to do it. So sit back and enjoy what you have.
Reply:well first off I'm a Georgia fan. But if you take the division 1a football and have a tournament teams will not stress out a whole lot if there not a top 10 team because if your 16th or lower your in so if you go undefeated you get the same privilege as a team who lost 2-3 games. but in Georgia's case Georgia would like that because they have 2 losses and there is no way they can be national champions but if you have a playoff Georgia could be national champions so its not fare.
Reply:The main problem is people won't go to the games. Suppose your team is in the playoff. Do you plan a vacation and go see game 1? No, because you'd rather go to the final game and see your team. So, you just don't bother going at all. If out of town people don't show up at these "play off" games, the entire bowl suffers. The reason they have a rose bowl is to get people to come from out of town and spend money.

A playoff system would be great for the fans that watch on tv. It would suck for the real fans who go to the game, and it would suck for the student athletes.

I honestly believe the old "system" was better. You didn't always have a clear cut national champion, but that's better than the way Boise State was robbed last year.

The whole BCS should be scrapped, it's nonsense.
Reply:The only problem with a playoff system in div 1a is that there isn't one. We are stuck with Bull Cr@p System until we riot in the streets.

If anyone wishes to join in, I will provide pitch forks and torches.
Reply:Money and tradition is the obstacle
Reply:Because there are more than 16 companies that have bowl reservations, you take one out then the colleges lose more money if they wouldnt get in the bowl.

Plus history takes it course too, NCAA Men's B-Ball has always had a tournament while football is strictly bowl games

Plus this year NO team should be good enough to get in the BCS, come on KANSAS is UNDEFEATED
Reply:That is simple....MONEY,MONEY MONEY
Reply:Greedy college officials.
Reply:Thing is there may be an 8-3 team who is good and/or better that a 9-2 team, just because their schedule is tougher they wont got a shot to play in the National championship. And...everybody loves a team that you wouldnt expect to win, to win...like George mason a few years back, i loved to watch them play.

Question for both illinois and mizzou fans?

i know illinois is in the rose bowl and mizzou is in the cotton bowl but shouldnt Mizzou be in the rose bowl and illinois be in the cotton bowl?

I think it should be like this:

cotton bowl: illinois vs arkansas

Rose Bowl: USC vs Mizzou

And im an illini fan but i know when i see something wrong.

Agree or disagree?

Question for both illinois and mizzou fans?
The Rose Bowl Committee has proven that we need a playoff system. Unfortunately for fans, it's also the RBC that holds all the cards and won't let it happen.

Their rationale that they want to "maintain the integrity of our traditional conference match-ups" is laughable.
Reply:Who cares about the Rose Bowl? USC would destroy either team....I'm a Notre Dame fan....so don't think I'm a USC fan, plus I'm from Chicago and consider myself a semi-Illini fan.
Reply:I think you're really a Mizzou fan
Reply:the cotton bowl has to invite a SEC and a Big 12 team to the cotton bowl so that wouldnt work out

and the Rose Bowl has to invite a Pac 10 champion and the Big 10 champion or Big 10 at-large or Pac 10 at-large

so that wouldnt work out
Reply:I live in Illinois...and I have to say... all Illinois teams suck.

Solution for BCS?

This would use the "plus one" model, but different than you think. The BCS games would go back to being traditional. Big 10 and Pac 10 in Rose Bowl, exet. The Cotton Bowl would be added to keep the total amount of teams at ten.The winners of the 5 BCS bowl games would have a chance to go to the NC game. An NCAA chosen panel of media people and athletic directors would select two of the five teams to play for the title. I know right now you are saying "Why don't they just have the five teams play each other in a playoff?" Well, the reason is because that isn't going to happen. This is a realistic system that would improve everything. All the BCS games would matter. 10 teams would get a chance to qualify for the championship. Also, all the BCS bowls would be on January first. Could you imagine a day of five bowl games that all matter! That day would be a special spotlight for those five bowls. All other bowls would be moved back one day. A realistic, better system- what do you think?

Solution for BCS?
they need to do away with the BCS all together because it isn't fair the way it's set up.

You can have undefeated teams in other conferences but will never get a shot at the national title because they aren't in the BCS stable like the Pac 10, ACC, Big 12, SEC etc.

I like the idea of a playoff system with 15 teams (No. 1 would get a bye the first week). Then after all is said and done the last two remaining would play each other in the national championship game.
Reply:sounds good to me.
Reply:hmmm... your way seems to make sense...and hell its gotta be better than what it is now! :-)
Reply:The only solution for the BCS is a 16-team playoff.
Reply:16 team playoff is too much,,,, use the bowl games as the playoff,,, and have the BCS games as the finals for placements,,,, and give the meaningless bowl games some meaning,,,,,,,
Reply:good system i say top 16 teams in the country have a play off. NCAA make more cash. Fans see more football. Upsets happen and also champion chips aren't given to 2 teams. 16 isnt too much 1st 16 teams 2nd 8teams 3rd 4 teams 4 Championchip. 4 games isnt too much

In the name of America: why is it so hard for a young woman to find a plain ol' pair of blue jeans?!?

Have normal blue jeans gone extinct? I find that no matter where i shop, every pair of blue jeans has spandex or lycra in it. I just want a pair of comfy, relaxed, durable blue jeans. i want to break them in myself, i don;t need to pay extra to have my pants maimed before i even put them on. And it doesnt help me that my legs are longer than the average and seemingly only available 32" inseam...why do men get the ease of measurements, and women just get a number...with no dimensions?

can anyone direct me to a peddler of a size 8, 36" inseam pair of mid-rise, relaxed, 100% cotton blue jeans. in fact, they dont even have to be blue. any color will do.. they can flare, they can be boot cut, whatever. i just dont want any spandex or lycra.

Do you think prices will increase with stronger demand and less productivity?

With all the talk of Ethanol as an alternative fuel source many farmers have reverted to producing corn in place of other crops such as soybean and cotton. This in turn could create a rise in cotton prices for such things as clothing as well as anything containing soybean products and/or byproducts. Also with many farmers opting to sell their corn crops specifically for the production of ethanol how might that affect the price of corn to the consumer for the table as well as feed for livestock?

Do you think prices will increase with stronger demand and less productivity?
Well, if you haven't noticed, for example the cost of milk is much higher now. A gallon is going for about $3.39 at some stores and it is all due to the cost of fuel (when distributing dairy products) plus the corn hike due to its use as alternative fuel. I personally don't think that farmers will necessarily stop producing cotton and other things in order to start producing corn. Each farmer has his own market.
Reply:maybe not, the farmer will get a surplus from the government to grow more corn and use up more fields and there keep the price at a nice price but if the union get to the mix then maybe the price will go up.
Reply:yes

If there was a plus 1, USC and Georgia would not even be in the playoff. Would an eight team playoff work?

I think there should be an eight team playoff with the BCS Conference winners and two at large teams

This year it would be:

1. Ohio State at the Fiesta Bowl

8. Missouri

2. LSU at the Sugar Bowl

7. Georgia

3. Virginia Tech at the Orange Bowl

6. West Virginia

4. Oklahoma at the Rose Bowl

5. USC

Next round would be at either the Fiesta Bowl/Cotton Bowl, and Rose Bowl/Capital One Bowl

Last round would be at the Sugar Bowl

If there was a plus 1, USC and Georgia would not even be in the playoff. Would an eight team playoff work?
plus 1, 8 team 12 team, a playoff is needed bad, dont care which way they go but we as fans deserve a real champ

Why are football championship games called 'Bowl' games?

e.g., Super Bowl, Rose Bowl, Cotton Bowl

Why are football championship games called 'Bowl' games?
An early and pivotal figure in the National Football league around the time the two leagues (NFL and AFL) merged, circa 1965, noticed his son playing with a large ball. He asked what it was called, and learned it was a "Super Ball", giving him the idea to call the early championship a Super Bowl. Other football events followed suit and called their championships "_________ Bowl".

VS is the place?

The VS semi annual sale is over on july 12th online. I recently bought a white low rise cotton thong and a cotton v-string heather gray. I also got a boxie that has lipstick writing and one that is pink and says hot pink on the back. I am deciding now which panties would be better for casual use with a little sexy. I am debating between the v-string in coral blush, yellow and aqua, and the same for the thongs. Which is better? Are there any that would be good, i like thongs better than bikinis. By the way I am a male, which i dont think should really matter, if something is comfortable. But that is a consideration as obviously some thongs will not fit as well, thanks

Does anyone know who still makes 100% cotton jeans anymore. I hate the stretch jeans.?

I am not looking for plus size. preferably low rise, wide leg or boot cut. I used to buy all my jeans at poore simon's, but they went out about 5 years ago.

Does anyone know who still makes 100% cotton jeans anymore. I hate the stretch jeans.?
Ewww!

Go over to American Eagle, cuz they still have 100% cotton versions of many of their jeans. Try the Hipster or Boyfriend.... They'll be clearanced this month, so they'll be reduced and sizes will disappear....
Reply:Traditional brands such as Levi's and Wranglers are all 100% cotton. If you have a Levi store then you will find exactly the style you want. Old Navy has 100% cotton jeans, so the Gap. Try department stores such as Sears. Don't look in the high fashion section, look in the basic department.

Why did Frodo have to leave the Shire after the ring was destroyed?

Two years after the Ring was destroyed, Frodo as the Ring-bearer and Bilbo as the Ring-finder were accorded the special right to travel to Valinor — where Frodo might be healed and find peace — together with Gandalf, Elrond and Galadriel, the Keepers of the Three Rings. They boarded a ship at the Grey Havens and passed over the sea. Having no children of his own, Frodo left his estate, along with the Red Book of Westmarch, to Sam, who, according to Hobbit legend, followed Frodo across the sea sixty-one years later, following the death of his wife Rose Cotton.

Why did Frodo have to leave the Shire after the ring was destroyed?
The wound he received from the Nasgul poison blade in The Fellowship of the Ring never healed so he was going to Valinor because it was the only place he could be healed...if he had stayed in the shire the poison would have slowly killed him.
Reply:Thank you for such a great question! And Thanks also to all the great answers I've read so far. Obviously, I'm not the only one who is a serious student of Tolkien.
Reply:The time of magic was at end and the World was moving into the age of man. When Frodo became a "Ringbearer" he became a part of the world of magic, so there was no place for him in the new world.
Reply:They had seen to much. That world was no longer the place for them.
Reply:All of the remaining ring-bearers had to leave. The magical forces of Middle Earth pretty much went to valinor to retire, and since Frodo and Bilbo were both tainted, they had to leave too.

To disinfect my shears in between dead heading each of my rose plants, can I dip it into alcohol?

like a cup of alcohol for instance? instead of using a cotton swab with a splash of alcohol in between each cleaning? i think it'll just make my life easier if i can "dip" instead. thank you.

To disinfect my shears in between dead heading each of my rose plants, can I dip it into alcohol?
Yes, a 75% solution of alcohol or 10% bleach solution. Also, let your shears dry between cuts. I use two shears, one is drying while I use the other.
Reply:I do the same as the third answer.
Reply:I put a 50% bleach solution in a spray bottle (like a travel pump hair spray bottle) and keep it with my gardening tools. Works great.
Reply:Physan 20 works really well too. But if you are in a pinch Alcohol will do the trick.
Reply:Dipping is just fine. In fact that's the way I do it and don't have any problems.

Does anyone know how to find the plant "montana rose" or by its botanical name "antiganon lepodus""

I had this plant in Tucson and they said it couldn't grow well there but it did and since California is similar in climate I would love to have it here. It is like wisteria but has tiny cotton candy colored flowers that bloom all summer.

Does anyone know how to find the plant "montana rose" or by its botanical name "antiganon lepodus""
A slight spelling mistake has thrown you off the track. The plant is called Antigonon leptopus or Coral Vine, a native of Mexico.

Here is a link for you to check if this is really what you're after

I'm sure you'll find it to buy in California.

Nice plant to have growing up through a tree I should think..

...Seems the (Cotton, Rose, Orange, Sugar and Gator) bowls just weren't enough. Now, we have the Peach, Meineke, Citrus, Liberty, Sun, GMAC, Capital One, Alamo and another 15 or so).

...All we need is roughly another 30 bowl games, and every college team in the nation can play in a bowl games. Your task, give me a catchy Bowl-Game Name. Your suggestions will be forwarded through the proper channels.

What do you think of this college football playoff idea? compared to the worthless bcs ?

I think the bcs sucks ! college football is

the only sport in the enitire planet that isnt decided on the field, or in a playoff format !

why cant they keep the bowls say, so that all the people that want the bowls can still have that, but, my suggestion is this :

why not take the 4 biggest bowls, %26amp; make that the first round of the playoffs , seeding teams like this : 1 seed would play the 8th seed, 2nd seed plays the 7th seed, ect...

then the four winners of the four biggest bowls, ( cotton, rose, sugar, orange, the four that rotate the bcs championship game as of right now), those four winners play it out for the national championship ! then, its fair to all, we still have all the bowls that people want, we have a fair playoff system to establish the REAL FOOTBALL CHAMPION, on the field of battle where it should be decided, not by some stupid ***, worthless poll !

What do you think of this college football playoff idea? compared to the worthless bcs ?
Yes, the BCS sucks...They should have a playoff...but its all about money...
Reply:Here's what I think should happen. Make the season eight games then with every conference you take the top ten (with 1 and 2 with a bye) and do tournament style. At the end of the tournament whoever has a better record or tougher schedule according to the rankings of the opponents go to the bowl games. That would get the BCS bowls outta the way then you can rank the rest of teams the same way into finally all bowls are covered.
Reply:Yeah I don't understand it either. They may make money off of bowl games but if they have playoffs they would make double! Reason is is because the fan base for college football would go through the roof! I'm convinced that if they did this, College football would be second only to the NFL in popularity! I know it would most certainly change my mind about it! More fans means more money! I think they are smart enough to realize that and Bowl games will be history! Sooner or latter they will have playoffs in college football.
Reply:But how would you seed those 8 teams? and the 9th , 10th, 11th teams would still have room to *****...

The BCS as is, is basically a 2 team playoff. With the seeds determined by polls+computers.

Not saying it is the best but it is basically a playoff,,,you want to see more in the playoffs fine.... but it would still be seeded by polls etc.... and teams like Hawaii, would not get the chance.....

What you have to realize is the whole "Championship" is mythical and not even recognized or supported by the NCAA. It is a separate corporate entity that does it and until someone comes up with a more equitable way of doing it... then the BCS will be the measure.... They very well could add more teams to their "playoff" probably go to a 4 team eventually. Then an eight team,, give it some time
Reply:liekt he other bloggers have said college football would make so much more money if they had a playoff. to make it fair for the smaller conferences because i believe in equality, the winners of the conferences plus a couple of teams as wild cards should be in the playoff. the wild card spots would be decided by the bcs. then as it dwindles down to 8 teams the games should be played in the rose bowl, sugar, orange %26amp; fiesta. then the national championship should be played in alternating years between the bowls. even w/ this system u can still keep the other bowls for the rest of the teams %26amp; everyone is happy. college football would be the most popular sport in the united states.
Reply:they make money off those bowls
Reply:bcs is terrible i think they should schedule games to see how good a team is

flowers birthday

College bowl games, what are they?

Are they end of the year conference championships or something?

Orange, Cotton, Rose etc. Is one of these bowl games for the #1 spot?

Which one is for the National and which ones are for 3, 4, 5 and 6 etc.?

I understand the NFL Playoffs but the Bowl games are a mystery to me.

Somebody please explain them to me.

TIA

College bowl games, what are they?
The only thing that matters are the conference championship games! The BSC (bowl crap system) is all about money! They will never have a playoff because there too many bowls that pump money into the NCAA and it's to hard to ask 20000 fans to travel numerous times to neutral sites to watch there team play 2 or 3 post season games! But to answer you, they now rotate that national championship game between the orange, sugar, fiesta, and rose bowls! where ever that national champ. game is played, that bowl site will have their bowl game on Jan 1 and the "BCS Championship" will be played there a week later so they can prepare the field, decals, etc. for the championship game! The other BCS bowls are just about money!
Reply:i dont think anyone understands them

that;s why no1 likes them
Reply:Its a excuse for every one to go a bowl game

so no one gets there feelings hurt

NCAA needs to cut entire league in to two leagues and have a play-off system
Reply:Bowl games are nothing more than glorified exhibitions that have no meaning played only for money.
Reply:When you get a "reasonable" explanation, will you please let me know!!?

Dog girl, those are literal translations, they make no sense.

Keep in mind most of these items has a specific idiom names to them instead of a literal word to word translation.

玫瑰胸花

胸花

纸制玫瑰/纸玫瑰

棉质玫瑰 (not usually used)

From the picture, I think you are looking for either 绢花, meaning "silk flower" (doesn't matter if it's not real silk), or 胸花, which is a common term for corsage. We don't usually use the other terms in everyday language.

Here are the google image search for those two terms:

Reply:This is the possible translation of the above items in Chinese (Traditional).

Rose Corsage: 玫瑰形狀胸前花飾

Corsage: 胸衣 or 胸前花飾

Parchment rose: 玫瑰形狀羊皮紙

Cotton rose: 山芙蓉 (flower) or 綿狀玫瑰

Hope the above helps.
Reply:玫瑰色胸衣= rose corsage

This is all in the simplified Mandarin Chinese Language. There is also a formal kind, but i dont think that many people use it anymore.

Why is it hard to find women's or juniors blue jeans that are 100% cotton.?

My favorite is the Levi's 518 bootcut low rise and I have a pair that is about 5 years old (my favorite) and they are 100% cotton and feel great. I have about 3 more of the same jeans, same size, same brand, same number but they now have spandex and/or nylon and the material doesn't feel the same as my other ones. I hate the stretchy jeans because they feel like they are not letting my skin breathe and I don't like the texture of the material. Does anyone know why all the women's jeans out there now have stretchy material and where I can find some Levi's that are like the old ones?

Why is it hard to find women's or juniors blue jeans that are 100% cotton.?
Many manufacturers have found that a single style of jean will be more appealing to more women if there is a strech in the denim using lycra. Women's body types are so different from one another and this is the simplest, cheapest way to deal with it. Otherwise the jeans would have to be cut on the bias which would waste fabric and probably not look as good anyway.

Scour some secand hand stores for the style you are looking for. You may find a pair that wasn't too "used".
Reply:Many of times eBay will have discontinued lines of clothes. Go to advanced search to pick your size, material and brand.Good luck!
Reply:you may have to go to men's jeans. super tight clothing seems to be back in fashion (I'm 38 so to me it's back) but now they have stretch in them so you can actually breathe in them. Try going to a Levi's website and seeing what they offer there or asking at a specialty jean store.
Reply:Check out thrift stores or EBAY
Reply:www.rawganique.com has 100% organic cotton jeans that are really soft. good luck

Cotton and westward expansion?

Why did cotton become the major stable crop of the South after the War of 1812? How was the rise of KingCotton connected to westward expansion.

Cotton and westward expansion?
The United States had control over New Orleans due to the sale of the territory known as the Louisiana Purchase which Napoleon had made to the United States. The British contested this because they felt the sale was illegal, as well as wanting the land themselves, in part to halt America's westward expansion.

Cotton became a major commodity because it was wanted by companies that were using it for making fabric. The invention of the Cotton Gin helped spur the usefulness of cotton which in turn made it easier to produce. The open lands of the South, as well as the good sources of water tended to aid the development of cotton as a major product to be grown. Cotton, however, did not play as big a role in westward expansion as might be believed. The Civil War, 50 years later, as well as the Boll Weevil put a halt to cotton as being a major crop in the south as well as other areas where it had been grown.
Reply:After the war, the US took control of New Orleans, which opened up the entire Mississippi Valley and it's tributaries to trade. The departure of the British also meant there was no longer any real impediment to westward expansion. This allowed vast new areas to be planted in cotton, which not only required lots of land and water, but as it depleted the soil, ever new areas in which to plant.

Where can I buy 100% cotton jeans with NO lycra content? Sexy trendy low rise style.?

Topshop or H%26amp;M do a good range.

I know what you mean! I find the ones with lycra start off fitting me but go baggy at the butt after I've worn them for a few hours!

Where can I buy 100% cotton jeans with NO lycra content? Sexy trendy low rise style.?
It's getting harder to find them. M%26amp;S are doing several styles now, and in black too. I still buy the £4 Tesco ones but you couldn't describe those as sexy....

I can't wear ones with lycra for more than a couple of hours. They make me itch.
Reply:just jeans, levis
Reply:most jeans will not have any lycra, the ones that do don't deserve to be called jeans as far as i'm concerned!!

levi's, topshop, h%26amp;m, gap are good, just don't go for anything tight cause they're the ones that usually contain lycra.

What impact did the cotton gin and the rise of cotton have on slavery in the U.S?

I personally think it was the beginning of the end of Slavery. People were learning of ways to make the gathering and separation and processing of cotton easier. Which meant black people were having to work at jobs for a living, @ an average wage of 7 cents per hour, no longer living in Slave quarters supplied to the slaves, and food. having to find their own way in America. Housing, medicine, etc.. Which is not easy, no matter what color or race. I could go on and on but I would probably sound racist when i am actually a realist. I honestly feel black people abolished slavery a little too early. Not many blacks were well established which made for a longer road for blacks to travel. Many were being freed on their own and buying slaves for themselves. which was helping to get a better grip. but everyone was on their own after the war.

What impact did the cotton gin and the rise of cotton have on slavery in the U.S?
The cotton gin increased production of seedless cotton. As such, it created demand on more slaves to work more fields to boost productivity levels. Bad news for the slaves.

Cotton candy maker?

I have a rose arty cotton candy maker(a big one not the hand held one) I am out of cotton candy sugar and I know you can use regular sugar. I want to use it for a party today and I was wondering if you can use koolaid powder and sugar to make it flavored? thanks for the help.

Cotton candy maker?
Koolaid would be a great flavoring for cotton candy, but be sure that you get the proportions right ... test it before you make it for the people at the party. Otherwise your cotton candy may be way too strong or way too weak ... I go for the 'too strong' but I don't even drink Koolaid any more, nor do I eat cotton candy any more ... but I did work selling it at events, and know several of the 'tricks of the trade' when cotton candy is needed and the regular supplies are running low. Use CANE sugar if possible, since that seems to work best. The others tend to separate.
Reply:yes you can use normal sugar thats what the professionals use you cant add flavor they just make you think they add flavor but all they add is food coloring.
Reply:yes u can nut be careful bcuz too much will make your maker get jammed and if you're using koolaid you might one to use a small amount of sugar because there is already sugar in the koolaid mix
Reply:Yumm!

How did the rise of the cotton cultivation affect the economy and the people of the Old South?

How did the rise of the cotton cultivation affect the economy and the people of the Old South in atleast three major effects? All question are appreciated. Thanks!

How did the rise of the cotton cultivation affect the economy and the people of the Old South?
The rising importance of cotton cultivation in the South had several interrelated effects:

Increasing European demand for cotton, much like tobacco cultivation in Jamestown, led to a distinct focus on its production as a cash crop. As prices rose, Southern planters attempted to augment their harvests--and their profits--by expanding their estates and investing large amounts of capital in slave labor. Vast increases in slave imports discouraged landowner-wage laborer relationships, which stunted the growth of a middle class. Additionally, the focus on agriculture as a primary means of profit among the upper class hindered the development of significant manufacturing centers in the South, a factor that contributed significantly to the supply difficulties faced by the Confederacy throughout the Civil War.
