To disinfect my shears in between dead heading each of my rose plants, can I dip it into alcohol?

like a cup of alcohol for instance? instead of using a cotton swab with a splash of alcohol in between each cleaning? i think it'll just make my life easier if i can "dip" instead. thank you.

Yes, a 75% solution of alcohol or 10% bleach solution. Also, let your shears dry between cuts. I use two shears, one is drying while I use the other.
Reply:I do the same as the third answer.
Reply:I put a 50% bleach solution in a spray bottle (like a travel pump hair spray bottle) and keep it with my gardening tools. Works great.
Reply:Physan 20 works really well too. But if you are in a pinch Alcohol will do the trick.
Reply:Dipping is just fine. In fact that's the way I do it and don't have any problems.
