College bowl games, what are they?

Are they end of the year conference championships or something?

Orange, Cotton, Rose etc. Is one of these bowl games for the #1 spot?

Which one is for the National and which ones are for 3, 4, 5 and 6 etc.?

I understand the NFL Playoffs but the Bowl games are a mystery to me.

Somebody please explain them to me.

TIA

College bowl games, what are they?
The only thing that matters are the conference championship games! The BSC (bowl crap system) is all about money! They will never have a playoff because there too many bowls that pump money into the NCAA and it's to hard to ask 20000 fans to travel numerous times to neutral sites to watch there team play 2 or 3 post season games! But to answer you, they now rotate that national championship game between the orange, sugar, fiesta, and rose bowls! where ever that national champ. game is played, that bowl site will have their bowl game on Jan 1 and the "BCS Championship" will be played there a week later so they can prepare the field, decals, etc. for the championship game! The other BCS bowls are just about money!
Reply:i dont think anyone understands them

that;s why no1 likes them
Reply:Its a excuse for every one to go a bowl game

so no one gets there feelings hurt

NCAA needs to cut entire league in to two leagues and have a play-off system
Reply:Bowl games are nothing more than glorified exhibitions that have no meaning played only for money.
Reply:When you get a "reasonable" explanation, will you please let me know!!?
