What do you think of this college football playoff idea? compared to the worthless bcs ?

I think the bcs sucks ! college football is


the only sport in the enitire planet that isnt decided on the field, or in a playoff format !


why cant they keep the bowls say, so that all the people that want the bowls can still have that, but, my suggestion is this :


why not take the 4 biggest bowls, %26amp; make that the first round of the playoffs , seeding teams like this : 1 seed would play the 8th seed, 2nd seed plays the 7th seed, ect...


then the four winners of the four biggest bowls, ( cotton, rose, sugar, orange, the four that rotate the bcs championship game as of right now), those four winners play it out for the national championship ! then, its fair to all, we still have all the bowls that people want, we have a fair playoff system to establish the REAL FOOTBALL CHAMPION, on the field of battle where it should be decided, not by some stupid ***, worthless poll !

Yes, the BCS sucks...They should have a playoff...but its all about money...
Reply:Here's what I think should happen. Make the season eight games then with every conference you take the top ten (with 1 and 2 with a bye) and do tournament style. At the end of the tournament whoever has a better record or tougher schedule according to the rankings of the opponents go to the bowl games. That would get the BCS bowls outta the way then you can rank the rest of teams the same way into finally all bowls are covered.
Reply:Yeah I don't understand it either. They may make money off of bowl games but if they have playoffs they would make double! Reason is is because the fan base for college football would go through the roof! I'm convinced that if they did this, College football would be second only to the NFL in popularity! I know it would most certainly change my mind about it! More fans means more money! I think they are smart enough to realize that and Bowl games will be history! Sooner or latter they will have playoffs in college football.

The BCS as is, is basically a 2 team playoff. With the seeds determined by polls+computers.


Not saying it is the best but it is basically a playoff,,,you want to see more in the playoffs fine.... but it would still be seeded by polls etc.... and teams like Hawaii, would not get the chance.....


What you have to realize is the whole "Championship" is mythical and not even recognized or supported by the NCAA. It is a separate corporate entity that does it and until someone comes up with a more equitable way of doing it... then the BCS will be the measure.... They very well could add more teams to their "playoff" probably go to a 4 team eventually. Then an eight team,, give it some time
Reply:liekt he other bloggers have said college football would make so much more money if they had a playoff. to make it fair for the smaller conferences because i believe in equality, the winners of the conferences plus a couple of teams as wild cards should be in the playoff. the wild card spots would be decided by the bcs. then as it dwindles down to 8 teams the games should be played in the rose bowl, sugar, orange %26amp; fiesta. then the national championship should be played in alternating years between the bowls. even w/ this system u can still keep the other bowls for the rest of the teams %26amp; everyone is happy. college football would be the most popular sport in the united states.
